A big thanks to Emirati Mama for nominating me for the Liebster Award! I really enjoy doing these types of “awards” because it lets me know that people are actually reading (and hopefully enjoying) my blog and it also allows me to let other bloggers know I’m interested and following what they have to say! So this little award is a questionnaire that the wonderful Emirati Mama has prepared for me so let’s get started!!
What is your favourite book?
Wow. This is actually so difficult for me to answer! I have SO many favourites and to try and pick just one would be extremely difficult but if I MUST choose I’ll choose a few of my favs! 😉 Frozen (no, not the movie! It’s from The Heart of Dread Series), Cruel Beauty, 13 Reasons Why, Just Listen, The Truth About Forever, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Catcher and the Rye, White Trash Beautiful and White Trash Damaged, The 5th Wave, and the Hunger Games series…wow that’s definitely more than a “few” and to think I actually had to cut myself off from naming anymore!
If you could live in a book, tv show or movie, what would it be?
I have a HUGE obsession with Once Upon a Time so I think I would definitely love to live in that TV series or Supernatural because that show rocks too and I think Jensen and Jarred are amazing. Orrrrr Harry Potter because let’s be honest, who doesn’t want to be a wizard?
What was your dream job growing up?
I always wanted to become a veterinarian. I’ve always had a huge love for animals.
If you could have one super power what would it be and how would you use it?
Again with the tough questions! Hmmm… I would like to have to ability to bend time. Kind of like The Time Traveler’s Wife story, only instead I’d want to be able to control my ability. In 20 years, I’d love to be able to go back and see my baby boy as a baby again. But I wouldn’t want anything like the Butterfly Effect to occur. I’d like my power to be more like Hiro’s power from Heros; how he can go back and forth and doesn’t actually change the outcome of the future when he’s in the past.
What makes you the happiest?
My son. Definitely my son. Every little thing he does (even when he’s being bad) makes me so incredibly happy.
How would your best friends describe you?
Haha I actually had NO clue so I asked two of them. Krissi said “loyal” and Christina said “legit” haha! So I’m going to assume that Christina means I’m a very straight to the point person, I don’t take crap from anyone, and if you want my honest opinion or advice I’m going to give it to you even if it’s not what you want to hear. At least that’s my take on “legit” haha!
What is “home” to you?
Home is anywhere where my husband, son, and cats are. Regardless of where we actually are, as long as I have them then I’m home. They are where I feel safe and loved and protected. They are home to me.
What teacher inspired you the most? How did they?
My grade 12 English teacher Miss Chinnick and my grade 11/12 history teacher Mr. McDonald inspired me the most. Miss Chinnick was fresh out of school (I think she was 24) and she took on a grade 12 English class filled with football guys who didn’t give a crap about school and yet she still managed to control them and handle herself like a true professional. I loved listening to her teach and her views on life. She was a fantastic teacher. And I just loved Mr. McDonald. I loved his no b*** s*** attitude towards our classes and how he made learning history enjoyable. I feel like I learned so much from his classes and when I’ve ran into him since graduating high school nine (almost 10 years ago!!) he still remembers me and we have long chats about our lives and he never fails to comment on how he always enjoyed reading my essays and views on his lesson plans.
What’s your fondest childhood memory?
Just hitting me with all the hard ones! Holy! 🙂 wow, ok. I think my fondest childhood memory(ies) would be all the afternoons spend at my babysitters house. My sister and I never lived within our school’s district so we always went to our babysitter Lucy’s house before and after school. Her daughter Karen and I were best friends and we always came up with the best/funniest games to play. Like stuffing our shirts with as many blankets as possible then running full speed at one another (our take on sumo wrestling) or building the craziest forts with her basement couch cushions or just playing dress up and make believe. We spent so much time at her house that friends always asked if my sister and I had our own rooms there. Those were definitely some of the best days I ever had as a kid.
What personality traits do you like in other people? What about dislike?
I like people who have a great sense of humour. I tend to be very sarcastic (like my sister; we get it from our dad) so I like people who understand and can appreciate that. I also value honesty and trust in others. I don’t like liars for obvious reasons and I don’t like people who take themselves too seriously. I think life is meant to be enjoyed and if you can’t take a joke or laugh at yourself then we really won’t mesh well together.
How did you come up with the name of your blog? Do you see yourself changing it in the future?
Well, I have a TON of freckles. They cover my entire face, arms, chest and now they’re spreading to my legs. I used to hate them growing up but now I’ve embraced my “angel kisses” as I’ve heard them called before. Although, I’m a natural redhead so I’ve also been told that I have so many freckles because each one represents a soul I’ve stolen hahahaha ;). Then cheeks is because when I smile I’ve been told the apples of my cheeks are big. Not in a bad way though. More like in a “I have a great smile” type of way…if that makes any sense! I’ve had people call me by both those names before (in a nice way) so I don’t think I’ll be changing my blog name because it’s who I am!
Thank you so much Emirati Mama for this nomination! I’ll update this post once I’ve decided on my questions for my nominees! And as always, thanks for reading!
