Whelp! We’re into the third trimester now which means the reality of having two kids is starting to set in. I was given my pre-admission hospital paperwork to fill out last week at my OB appointment and now I’ll be seeing him every two weeks for the next six weeks then weekly until delivery! Oh man, oh man! I remember when I was pregnant with Nate, going from seeing my OB every four weeks to every two then weekly felt like I could finally see the light at the end of the long nine month tunnel. I’m excited and nervous all at the same time. I know Nate is going to be a great big brother but part of me still feels sad that he won’t get all my attention all the time. I’m definitely going to try to make the most of these last few weeks where it’s just the three of us.
Baby is the size of a: Butternut squash
Baby weighs: Roughly 2.5 pounds
My weight: I finally caved and weighed myself for the first time since finding out I was pregnant and I weighed in at 164 pounds. I can’t remember how much I weighed when I first find out I was pregnant but I think I’ve roughly gained about 30 pounds so far!
Movement: Baby is very active nowadays and I can feel him moving and stretching more and more with each passing day. He still likes to play shy for Kurt though!
Nursery: It’s getting closer and closer to being completed! We’ve set up the crib and dresser, started washing and putting the clothes away, and I’ll be putting up the artwork in the next few days! I’m feeling much more relaxed now that the room is almost finished. For about three weeks I just constantly felt ‘on edge’ about things and I think a lot of it had to do with knowing there was so much to do in the baby’s room.
Cravings: So for the majority of my pregnancy I didn’t really have any real cravings. I might decide one day I wanted ice cream or watermelon but otherwise there wasn’t anything I needed to have but now all I want is peanut butter! There’s been numerous times where I’ve eaten seven or eight massive spoonfuls straight out of the jar and had to actually restrain myself from eating any more because I knew it would eventually make me feel nauseated.
New symptoms: I’ve been getting wicked heartburn lately which sucks! Tums and Rolaids are like candy to me right now. I remember when I was pregnant with Nate I started getting heartburn around this time too so it appears that this is an on-going trend with me and the third trimester. I’ve also started noticing that my legs are cramping more first thing in the morning. There’s been a few times where I’ve gone to stretch out after first waking up only to have both legs seize up immediately. Ugh the worst!
29 weeks down, 11 more to go!
