Wow! What a weekend! As most of you know, our little boy Nate turned ONE on Monday. We celebrated his birthday this past weekend and the lucky boy got not one but TWO birthday parties! The first one we did at our house and that included my dad’s side of the family and all of our friends and their kids/babies. Then the second party we had was held at my mom’s new house in Port Hope and that included her side of the family as well as some of Kurt’s family.

In order for me to relax and actually be able to enjoy the party on Saturday, I asked my sister Amanda’s boyfriend’s sister [Jessica] to take pictures for us. Jessica had taken some adorable pics of Nate when he was eight months old so I knew she’d do a fabulous job at his birthday. It was just easier knowing someone else was in charge of the camera. I was afraid I’d be constantly stressing about if anyone was taking pictures if I didn’t ask her to do it. On Sunday, since my mom was hosting the party, I knew I’d be much more relaxed and able to take our own photos.

So since Jessica is still editing the pictures of Saturdays party, I thought I’d share some of the pictures we took on Sunday. My mom hosted a “Circus” theme party and had some really adorable decorations for it.

She had pop corn bags, a little carousal centre piece, a birthday poster to sign, and a circus theme bib for Nate. Plus those adorable invitations she found from Party City!  I love themed birthdays for kids. I know it seems kind of pointless since he’s so young but it looks so cute and I find it easier to plan a party on a budget when you know exactly what you’re looking for.

The ONLY bad part about Sunday was when our camera battery died just before Nate was about to eat his cake! I swear that battery lasts for weeks but of course it had to die just as we were singing Happy Birthday. Fortunately, other people were taking pictures but still it’s a bummer we don’t have our own pics. Oh well! Here’s some shots of the day!

My sister got Nate that Roots shirt for his birthday on Saturday and had asked that he wear it on Sunday. Now I see why. Clearly she purposely wanted to match him! Haha!

Gosh! I STILL cannot believe he’s ONE! It’s a funny feeling to be so excited for what the future holds for him but also scared that he’s going to grow up faster than I’d like him to.
